<p><strong>Join us at the doors.</strong> Every conversation on a doorstep is a chance to talk directly with Area 3 families about our schools, and it's one of the most effective ways to win this election. No experience needed: we'll pair you with a walk packet, a route, and everything you need to get started. Shifts run about two hours, weekdays and weekends, now through the end of October.</p>

<p>San Mateo broke into districts so each area could have solid representation on the City&nbsp;Council. That’s why it is so important to better know the candidates!&nbsp;</p><p>The BHNA welcomes you to this special Candidates Night to allow you to get to know&nbsp;candidates on an in-depth level before voting this November. While the majority of the&nbsp;meeting will be dedicated to the 3 candidates running for City Council in our District 5, we&nbsp;will kick off the first half hour with the 2 candidates running for the San Mateo Union High&nbsp;School District (SMUHSD) Area 3.&nbsp;</p><p>To accommodate a larger audience, this meeting will be held in the Assembly Room at the&nbsp;Senior Center, which is at the far north end of the building just past our regular meeting&nbsp;room.&nbsp;</p><p>The schedule will be as follows for your planning:&nbsp;</p><p><strong>6:15 – 6:45 p.m</strong>. BHNA welcomes you and introduces the two SMUHSD Board candidates.<br><br><strong>6:45 – 7 p.m.</strong> – Break&nbsp;</p><p><strong>7pm</strong> – BHNA introduces the 3 City Council candidates, followed by opening statements&nbsp;and Q&amp;A. (Please note: The deadline to turn in your advance questions for the&nbsp;candidates is Sept. 9th. We're inviting volunteers to join a handwritten postcard-writing effort for voters right here in Area 3.</p><p>Handwritten notes get read in a way flyers never do. A short, personal message from a real neighbor "Diana listens and shows up, I hope you'll vote for her on November 3rd" can be the nudge that gets someone to the polls. We'll have everything you need: pre-printed postcard stock, voter names and addresses, and stamps.</p><p>No experience necessary, and you can write as many or as few cards as you'd like. Experience the satisfaction of knowing your handwriting helped reach a voter directly.</p>
