For 18 years, I've taught in public elementary and middle schools including Meadow Heights Elementary School in San Mateo and Bowditch Middle School in Foster City. That experience has taught me how schools and districts really run, and given me a deep appreciation for the diversity that makes our schools strong.
I'm also an active parent in our schools. This is my 10th year serving on PTA Executive boards at Meadow Heights Elementary and Abbott Middle School, including four years as PTA president, where I've advocated for students while listening closely to the needs of teachers and families.
And I'm your neighbor. I grew up in Burlingame and have called San Mateo home since 2013. I help run several online community groups in our area, including Buy Nothing San Mateo Beresford/Laurelwood, and Meadow Heights Community because I love building connection and supporting the people around me. I'm also a Cub Scout Den Leader for Pack 27, teaching kids early what it means to give back and be active, contributing members of their community.
As a teacher in elementary and middle school classrooms, I've worked closely with administration and seen firsthand what students carry with them as they arrive at high school. As a PTA leader, I've made tough calls about funding the programs that support learning. And as a parent with a child at Hillsdale High School, I'm living the high school experience right now, advocating for my own children, and others, navigating our schools.
Together, that gives me a full view of what our students and families need, from the classrooms where they're shaped to the hallways where they're preparing for what's next. High school decisions don't start there, they're the culmination of everything before, and I've spent my career in that "before."
I've spent years committed to supporting education in our community. Now I want to bring that same commitment to the San Mateo Union High School District Board.
